Washington State Ferry

Washington State residents are extremely proud of the Washington State ferry system and visitors only need to ride them once to understand why.     First of all, they are remarkably affordable and they not only take you to the magical San Juan islands and other fun places, they also cruise through some of the most stunningly beautiful scenery on earth.        Traveling on a Washington State Ferry you are likely to see bald eagles, seals, porpioses, osprey, puffins, & perhaps a pod of resident Orcas making their way around the islands.    You never know day to day where the Orcas will turn up which keeps the local whale watching tour operators on their feet.   Some Washington State whale watching tour operators boast a 98% success rate of finding whales for their passenger to view.

The Cascades Train

One popular way to travel through Western Washington State is on the Amtrak Cascades train that links cities from Oregon, Washington, British Columbia  Canada.     Sections of the northern portion of this route take you along the edge of Puget Sound, giving you panoramic  views of the San Juan Islands and the rugged mountains of the Northern  Cascades mountain range.
